Looking Good

I have managed to put some borders around three of the embroidery squares.  They look so cute and are having some character.

Quilt with a story

Don't you just love knowing the story behind a quilt and why it is so special?  This is one of those quilts.  The quilt consists of my very first cross stitch squares that I made as a little girl, 4th-5th grade.

Some of the squares are of different sizes, so it has been hard to put together.  I decided to give it a shot and put some sashing around the middle.  I really like the result. Now the next step is to put the rest of it together.

I finally have a few days off to stitch and sew.  I am slowly making progress on a cross stitch quilt that I started about 8 years ago.  It is a Mary Engelbret pattern.  It I can complete one square every 2 weeks I could have this quilt completed in a few months.  There are only 6 squares.  One is completely finished.
My completed square.

another round done

I have completed round 2 of my hexagon quilt.  It has turned out differently than I imagined.  I have always loved bright fabrics and contrast.  It definitely shows in this quilt.  Right now I have some fabric laid out around my rosette.  I am trying to decide what colors to put in the next an last round.  I am leaning toward some yellow along with a soft green.

Millefiore rosette #1

Here is my latest project.  I joined the New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt-Along.  It has been a bit of a challenge, but I like it.  I will be adding 2 more rows of hexagons around this flower.  Part of me doesn't want to add anything.  I am going to let my creative juices flow over the weekend and chose my fabric for the next row.  It should be interesting.
